dc.description.abstract |
Artificial recharge of groundwater is becoming increasingly important in groundwater management. Artificial recharge has been defined as the process of replenishing groundwater through various methods designed specifically for that purpose. These methods are: Direct Surface, Direct-Subsurface and Indirect Techniques. Among the direct
surface techniques, basin method is most favoured method of recharge and among direct subsurface techniques, recharge wells are generally used. Water table evolution due to recharge from basins having finite width and finite or infinite length have been analysed by various investigators. In the present report methods have been suggested to assess the water recharged from a basin or through an injection well. The methods of assessment are based on monitoring of the water table rise consequent to recharge. Analytical methods have also been developed to assess the volume of recharged water available in a region at different
times after the on set of recharge. |
