Springs are the primary and dependable source of drinking water of more than 40 million habitants of Himalayan region as evidence by villages clustered around these natural water sources. Springs bring naturally occurring formations are commonly held water resources of local communities. In addition to this, springs feed several rivers in the Shiwaliks and lower Himalayas, hence, thy are the lifeline of several micro-habitats of the river system. |
