dc.description.abstract Droughts are due to acute water shortage and differ from natural hazard in many ways. Probability of its occurrence is high in arid zones. There are different approaches for drought management in crop production, the important Ones being use of suitable crops/varieties, runoff harvesting and recycling, application of organic manures which may retain moisture for longer periods , and mulching. Appropriate water resources and rain water management practices also help in conserving moisture for successful crop raising. A number of technological options are available for efficient conservation and utilization of moisture. en_US
