Scientific and Engineering Libraries of Roorkee - An Appraisal.

Abstract

Roorkee is a town of excellence in terms of advanced engineering education and scientific research for over a century .Seven national level scientific, educational and research institutions are located in this small town of district Haridwar .The libraries attached to these establishments are very advanced in terms of collection, services and technology .A survey of these libraries has ,been carried out by circulating a questionnaire and by personal intervigs from the librarians of these libraries. An attempt has been made to examine the status of thdie libraries in terms of collection, facilities, manpower and services offered etc. Based on the results of the survey and major findings, few suggestions have been given to improve the utility, efficiency and effectiveness of these libraries. The observations are being presented in this paper.
