Abstract:
Many of the assumptions of Boulton's theory/type curves may be severely violated in case of long duration pumping tests on unconfined aquifers. Prominent among them may be the assumptions of fully penetrating wells, high enough Sy /S ratio and absence of any other pumping in the vicinity of the test. Application of numerical methods coupled with Boulton's and Neuman's theories is suggested for a more rational analysis of data of such pumping tests.
