dc.description.abstract Large number of Percolation Tanks have been constructed as one of the effective measures for water conservation and recharge in drought prone areas of Maharashtra. Number of investigations have been carried out to assess the effectiveness of the these percolation tanks as recharge tanks. G.S.D.A. has selected 8 percolation tanks from different hydrogeological and agroclimatological situations to study the benefits accrued from these percolation tanks. The paper describes the work carried out to evaluate the technical feasibility of these structures; for groundwater recharge and development of groundwater resources by implementing well construction programme in the influence zone. en_US
