Abstract:
Hydraulic properties of soils play an important role in movement of soil moisture from the ground surface to water
table through the unsaturated zone and, hence, affect the runoff and groundwater recharge processes. This paper
examines the hydrological behaviour of a hard rock catchment (Ghataprabha) characterized by different land covers.
Impact of land covers on hydrological characteristics (infiltration and soil moisture retention) has been obtained by
using advanced field and laboratory techniques.
