dc.description.abstract The duration of the pumping test is largely influenced by the discharge rate, radial distances of the observation points, aquifer parameters and boundary conditions. Plots have been presented for determining the time during which the initial disturbances persist during a pumping test. An equation has been suggested to compute the travel time of the radius of influence when a pumping test is conducted near a recharge boundary. Based on the actual pumping test data certain guidelines and index drawdowns have been provided which would help in deciding the maximum duration of pumping in a confined aquifer for reliable estimation of aquifer properties. en_US
