dc.description.abstract This paper presents results of a study carried out to determine the potential for harvesting rain water from roofs and paved areas in the individual houses in the region of Mysore. Rural and urban areas are dealt with separately. It has been found that rain water harvesting is beneficial, provided provisions are made for storing quantities of the order of 10 to 15m3 of water, particularly in the new localities of the urban areas. en_US
