Abstract: The snowmelt runoff model (SRN) has been implemented on VAX-11/780 computer system of National Institute of Hydrology, Roorkee. This model computes daily discharge during snowmelt from temperature, precipitation and depletion curves of snow cover. The transformation of snowmelt into discharge is done by superposition of daily snowmelt on extrapolated recession discharge. This model has the option for snowmelt runoff simulation and forecasting as well. SRM has been applied for Beas basin up to Manali. This part of the Beas basin is entirely snow covered in winters. The parameters used in this model have been estimated for the basin The results of model computation are verified by comparison of computed and observed daily discharge for the years of 1978 and 1979. A good consistency has been found between simulated and measured discharge.
