dc.description.abstractArtificial recharge of aquifers is an important and necessary measure in combating water scarcity and mitigating drought. Artificial recharge aims replenishment of aquifers in order to obtain water at the time of need. However, success of an artificial ground-water recharge programme requires proper site selection. Attempt has been made earlier to demarcate sites for artificial-recharge on the basis of geological understanding and logic. However, in reality, hydrology not always follows the footsteps of the geological reasoning. Therefore, in the present study an attempt has been made for site selection for artificial gruund-water recharge in hard-rocks after taking into consideration the hydrological factors influencing the ground-water regime. The study has been carried out in parts of the hard-rock Aravalli terrain located in western India. In the present article, the proposed methodology has been explained and demonstrated step-by-step.en_US
