There is an urgent need to initiate action for effective perspective planning for the next 25-30 years keeping in view the targets to be achieved in respect of water supply, sanitation, solid waste management and drainage facilities. To achieve these targets, suitable strategy and policy framework has to be evolved giving due consideration to important aspects such as development of water resources, mobilization offinancial resources, adoption of appropriate technology, effective operation and maintenance, water conservation, reuse and recycling of effluents, institutional strengthening, capacity building and private sector participation. |
