dc.description.abstract | The various aspects that make the management of coastal aquifer system more involved than that of inland aquifers are described. The structure of the salt fresh water interface, the limiting conditions of salt water intrusion and the effect of pumping of wells on natural interface are discussed. The various models developed for management of coastal aquifers are indicated. Hydrogeochemical parameters, electrical conductivity, isochlor lines, major ion concentration variations, chloridebicarbonate ratios, water types (Trilinear, Durov diagrams) as tools in sea water intrusion studies in the coastal aquifers are briefly explained. Finally, the methods for controlling sea water intrusion are listed out. | en_US |
