Abstract: The present study area which is the south western part of Sagar district, Madhya Pradesh is sub-urban, which is growing at a faster pace. The increasing demographic pressure creates an undue stress on the available water resources quantitatively as well as qualitatively. Qualitatively deterioration adversely affects the human health and crops. In the study geochemistry of groundwater has been analyzed for the samples collected. The analyzed data is utilized for the characterization of hydro-chemical processes dominated in nature. For drinking suitability the analyzed data are compared with water standards proposed by various agencies. Various parameters like SAR, RSC, %Na, MR, Kelley’s Ratio, Gibb ratio etc. have been computed and analyzed to assess the irrigation suitability of groundwater of this region.
