Abstract: A simple, fast and reliable high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and solid phase extraction (SPE) method was developed for the chiral analysis of o,p-DDT. The enantiomeric separation of o,p-DDT was achieved on Chiralpak AD-RH column. The mobile phase used was acetonitrile-water (60:40, v/v) at 1.0 mL/min flow rate with UV detection at 230 nm. The values of separation factor (a) were 16.5 and 19.0 for the two enantiomers while the value of resolution factor (Rs) was 2.0. The percentage recoveries of o,p-DDT enantiomers by SPE were found to be 90%. The developed method was applied for the chiral analysis of o,p-DDT in wastewater.
