dc.description.abstract | Water is one of the important constituent of the ecosystem on the earth and essential component of life. Therefore there exists a close linkage between the quality of water and the environment which bears an utmost importance for the ecosystem. The demand of water is increasing due to the increase in population and in living standards. The quality of water resources is deteriorating day by day due to the continuous pollution of water resources with undesirable additions of pollutants. The main sources of water pollution are industrialization, civilization, agricultural activities and other environmental and global changes. The present paper describes the water quality status of one of the major water reservoirs in Andhra Pradesh namely Nagarjuna Sagar. The sources of pollution, remedial measures and also water treatment techniques have been discussed. | en_US |
