Abstract: Water scarcity is a general problem being experienced world wide. Quality considerations are also getting equal concern. The study reveals that the present practice of faecal handling which causes contamination of waters are having one limitation or the other. World wide researches have been carried out but none is found as a fool-proof way of eliminating the contamination of water resources. In the present study a new scenario is presented to handle the human faecal organic materials through a new design of septic tank which is a pour flush, non-flowing, rarely cleaning type and associated machineries and equipments for enclosed handling to transport to a desired site. Thus, it is a complete re-routing of the handling of the contaminating agent and solving problem from the root itself. In this mode of sewage handling all the earlier research and developments become redundant and new directions would be required. The practice, has several inherent advantages such as reduction in water requirement for handling of human excreta, application of the technology irrespective of the topographic situations, free from scale effects and providing clean environment.
