dc.description.abstractWater available from various sources, whether from the surface or underground, has to be analyzed for its intrinsic quality. A comparison has to be made before any particular source can be adopted for human consumption. Alternately, the source requiring minimum treatment to achieve the prescribed standards is recommended. Expert systems have become handy tools for carrying out tests on the water quality and recommend a specific source. This paper describes one such expert system WATQUAL which can be utilized for carrying such an analysis.en_US
