dc.description.abstractCosmetics are those natural and artificial chemicals which increase the beautification of a person after applying. Several evidences suggest the ancient use of cosmetics. This industry boosted up due to invention of different new chemicals in the 19's. The average increment by 4-5 % has been reported during the last 20 years. This industry risen up by the heavy demand of different social groups living in Europe and Asia. Then, it's really a big challenge for industries making of cheap and safe cosmetics. Heavy competition, lack of awareness and flexible regulations has led the deteriorated cosmetics. Several health hazards like heavy metals, parabens and different carcinogenic chemicals have been reported in several cosmetic products. Industrial emission has badly affected the groundwater quality and hence, people living nearby are suffering from various debilitating illness. Heavy metal lead has been reported in the groundwater of Meerut and nearby places by exceeding several times of its recommended level. Lead is being used in the making of Kajal and lipsticks. Lead is much hazardous and responsible for neurological damage. Children in the Meerut have been reported with increased level of blood lead and causing low IQ. Hazardous impacts of white and red lead have been demonstrated in the 19's. Awareness, proper implementation of rules and regulations and use of natural and safe chemicals can stop the water pollution and illness causing by cosmetics.en_US
