Abstract: Groundwater is of fundamental importance in water resources planning, development and management. Groundwater flow has many applications, among which are agricultural developments, domestic use such as supply of drinking water, irrigation, and a variety of water quality applications. As the usage of groundwater expands, our knowledge of groundwater systems must also expand. Numerical groundwater modelling is a tool that can aid in studying groundwater problems and can help increase our understanding of groundwater systems. The purpose of this article is to highlight major groundwater issues, concepts of groundwater modelling, and commonly used groundwater modelling software.
