Abstract: The 79th meeting of the Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) of the National Institute
of Hydrology (NIH), Roorkee was held on 14th July 2025 (10:30 AM) at CWC, New
Delhi. The meeting was Chaired by Dr. Atul Jain, Chairman, CWC. The list of the
participants is given in Annexure-I.
Dr. M. K. Goel, Director, NIH first welcomed the Chairman (TAC), members and
invitees to the meeting. He briefed about the role of the TAC, Working Group (WG)
and Regional Coordination Committees (RCC) constituted to review the work program
at Headquarters and Regional Centres of NIH. After a round of brief introduction of
members, invitees and all Heads of Divisions and RCs of NIH, the Director invited the
Chairman, TAC for his opening remarks.
At the outset, the Chairman welcomed all the participants and mentioned that
this meeting provides an opportunity to reflect on our past achievements, review
ongoing research efforts, and deliberate on future directions. The Chairman
appreciated the work completed by NIH and was pleased to know about the
organization of an International Ground Water Conference (IGWC) by NIH in March,
2025. He emphasized on more collaborative studies of NIH with CWC, CGWB, NMCG,
IITs and other Institutions. The Chairman requested members to provide their valuable
guidance and feedback on the ongoing and future work program of NIH. After the
opening remarks by the Chairman, the Director, NIH invited Member-Secretary, TAC,
